Living Light Christian Church – Pleasant Prairie

Meet Our Elders

Most leaders of churches are called “pastors.” While we firmly believe Jesus has given some individuals to the church as pastors (Eph. 4:11), that is not the term used in the New Testament for local church leaders. They were normally called elders. Following the New Testament pattern, we refer to the leaders of our local congregations as elders.

Kal Bergendahl

Kal Bergendahl

Kal Bergendahl was born and raised in Kenosha, WI. He received his ‘wake-up call’ and became a Christian in 1996 after his father passed away from cancer. Kal has a Bachelors Degree in music. In 2001, along with Teresa Reynolds, he founded Living Light School of Worship, a nine-month discipleship and music program that has since trained students from all over the world. In addition to being a Co-Director of the school, Kal was appointed as an elder in Living Light Pleasant Prairie in 2010. Kal and his wife, Shanon, were married in 1999 and have four children: Judah, Arden, Avery, and Adelynn.

Don Dejno

Don Dejno

Don and his wife, Carol, were married in 1965. They became Christians in 1972 during the Charismatic Renewal, and were involved in the birthing of Living Light Kenosha. Don served as an elder in the Kenosha congregation from 1994 to 2008, when he became an elder in the new Pleasant Prairie congregation. Don carries out his leadership responsibilities while continuing as a successful businessman in the manufacturing and trucking industries. He and Carol focus on working with married couples and helping Christians in the business world. They have five children and 18 grandchildren.

Gary Rudd

Gary Rudd

Gary was born in Portland, OR and moved to Kenosha, WI in 1992 to be a basketball coach and lecturer at a local university. After being diagnosed with life-threatening cancer, he became a Christian in 1995. He was healed and is now cancer-free! He immediately became part of Living Light Kenosha, where he met Karen, whom he married in 1998. In 2007, Gary was appointed as an elder in Living Light Kenosha. The following year, he transitioned to serve as an elder in the planting of a new congregation in Pleasant Prairie, where he continues to work. He and Karen have three children: Tobias, Gabriel and Moriah.

Church Life

Our homegroups are small groups, ranging in size from 10 to 20 people, that meet once a week in the evening. In the informal atmosphere of the home, we can talk about what God is teaching us (individually and corporately), study the Bible, pray together, worship God in song, support and encourage one another, help with practical needs . . . the list goes on!

Throughout the course, we endeavor to come to a better understanding and practice of the instruction given to us in Ephesians 5:21-27.

This workshop covers a wide variety of topics including a biblical understanding of what marriage is, effective communication, conflict resolution, forgiveness, the husband’s role in leading his wife, the wife’s role in submitting to her husband, romance, sex, and finances.
