Meet Our Elders

Most leaders of churches are called “pastors.” While we firmly believe Jesus has given some individuals to the church as pastors (Eph. 4:11), that is not the term used in the New Testament for local church leaders. They were normally called elders. Following the New Testament pattern, we refer to the leaders of our local congregations as elders.

David Entwistle

Dave Entwistle

Originally from Bolton, David became a Christian when he was 17. Having spent some time in churches in Bath and Loughborough, he moved with his family to Taunton in November 2003 to help plant Living Light Taunton. He was set in as an elder in October 2006. David works full-time as a Sales Manager for a company that designs and constructs specialist glazing and frontages for commercial developments throughout England. He and his wife, Sarah, have four children: Naomi, Charis, Olivia, and Zack.

Bruce Izzett

Bruce Izzett

Bruce was born in Zimbabwe and experienced the reality of God in amazing ways through the lives of his parents as they battled leprosy and worked in their local church. As Bruce grew, he increasingly felt called to ministry and began working full-time in church work as a young adult. He then relocated to England in 2005 and married Hannah. They have three children, Sophia, Aisha and Reuben. Their home is in Taunton where Bruce serves the church, teaches music and plays in local bands.

Church Life

Homegroups

Homegroups

Our homegroups are small groups, ranging in size from 10 to 15 people, that meet once a week in the evening. In the informal atmosphere of the home, we can talk about what God is teaching us (individually and corporately), study the Bible, pray together, worship God in song, support and encourage one another, help with practical needs . . . the list goes on!

VIsion and Commitment

Vision + Commitment Course

The Vision and Commitment Course (V&C) is a 20-week class that explores what Living Light Christian Church believes (our vision) and how we outwork what we believe together (our commitment to the vision). Though particularly for those who are thinking of joining us as a congregation, the course is open to anyone. Whether you are a new believer in Christ, have known the Lord for many years or are simply searching for truth, we know that what’s presented in this course has all the potential to transform your life radically to the glory of God.

Local Church Relationships – B1

A group of church leaders in Taunton started meeting together for prayer and fellowship in 2003. This grew in depth during 2005 and 2006 to such an extent that the group took on the name of B1 after the prayer of Jesus in John 17:11.

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

This group now extends to include 14 church leaders from different backgrounds and denominations united around the common desire to see the Kingdom of God come in Taunton. This group of leaders draws strength and encouragement from the growing relationship between them as they meet to worship, pray, share the word and fellowship.

The B1 group meets at 7:00am every Wednesday morning and includes leaders from the following churches:
  • Taunton Vineyard
  • Taunton Baptist
  • Taunton Family Church
  • Bathpool Chapel
  • Creech St Michael Baptist Church
  • St James
  • All Saints Trull
  • St Mary Magdalene
  • Living Light Christian Church
Being part of the B1 Group of churches is outworked in the following ways:
  • Weekly leaders meetings for building relationship, prayer and encouragement
  • Occasional joint Sunday meetings
  • Regular town-wide prayer meetings
  • Outreach and service to the community
  • Providing musicians and worship leaders for town-wide events
  • Helping to finance initiatives in the town
