Meet Our Elders

Most leaders of churches are called “pastors.” While we firmly believe Jesus has given some individuals to the church as pastors (Eph. 4:11), that is not the term used in the New Testament for local church leaders. They were normally called elders. Following the New Testament pattern, we refer to the leaders of our local congregations as elders.

Gary Bigger

Gary Bigger

Gary was born in Cincinnati, OH, and spent most of his life in Cadillac, MI. In 1998, while earning a degree at Central Michigan University and coaching high school football, Gary was born again and joined Covenant Life Church in Lake City, MI. In 2001, Gary moved to Living Light Kenosha to participate in a one-year evangelism program. There, he met his wife, Amy, and they were married upon returning to Cadillac in 2002. Gary joined the staff of Covenant LIfe Church in 2005 and was set in as an elder in 2007. Gary and Amy have four children: Grace, Lily, Samuel, and Elliot.

Andy Whipple

Andy Whipple

Andy was raised in the Cadillac area and began serving Christ early in his life. He attended Western Michigan University, where he prepared to teach mathematics and science, and also served as a student leader in a campus-based ministry. In 1998, Andy returned to the Cadillac area with his wife, Kristin. They joined Covenant Life Church, where they served in many areas including homegroup leadership. In August of 2007, Andy was appointed as an elder in Covenant Life Church. Along with his eldership responsibilities, Andy teaches full-time at Cadillac Junior High School. Andy and Kristen have five children.

Homegroups

Homegroups

Our homegroups are small groups, ranging in size from 10 to 20 people, that meet once a week in the evening. In the informal atmosphere of the home, we can talk about what God is teaching us (individually and corporately), study the Bible, pray together, worship God in song, support and encourage one another, help with practical needs . . . the list goes on!

VIsion and Commitment

Vision + Commitment

The Vision and Commitment Course (V&C) is a 20-week class that explores what Living Light Christian Church believes (our vision) and how we outwork what we believe together (our commitment to the vision). Though particularly for those who are thinking of joining us as a congregation, the course is open to anyone. Whether you are a new believer in Christ, have known the Lord for many years or are simply searching for truth, we know that what’s presented in this course has all the potential to transform your life radically to the glory of God.
